Oteemo SEO Project At a Glance

Problems:

  1. The website was not ranking for high-intent keywords or search terms associated to their offerings,  services or markets.
  2. Oteemo had two unique business units with two very different go-to-markets, which meant complex, independent organic visibility strategies. One unit focuses on Federal and the other on Commercial.
  3. Oteemo hadn’t aligned their search terms and content to the buyer journey.
  4. Domain authority had plateaued and not grown in 12 months.
  5. The website had not passed core web vitals and had critical performance issues.
  6. The website needed a comprehensive redevelopment to fit their position in the market.

Key outcomes:

  1. Increased by 3x the organic traffic to the site.
  2. Redevelopment of the website focusing on improving the UX/UI and showcasing their capabilities.
  3. Gained more than 400 high-intent keywords in the top 10 search results.
  4. Doubled (DA) Domain Authority in less than 12 months.
  5. Implemented a comprehensive SME-driven content production system.
  6. Aligned content to fit ICP (ideal customer profile) without losing SEO value.

About The Customer:

Oteemo, https://oteemo.com/, is a DC-based technology consultancy that serves local and global enterprise organizations. It has two business units: Commercial and Federal. It focuses on Digital Transformation, Application Modernization, Cyber Security, and DevSecOps.

Oteemo Needed an SEO Program That Could Fulfill Both Business Units and Deliver Value Rapidly.

The message was clear: we need to expose our solutions and capabilities to our target audience. But there was a problem: Oteemo had an extensive range of solutions and capabilities, and added to this, two very different business units within the same website. Also, the content shouldn’t just serve the purpose of ranking and driving traffic; it should be technically flawless and showcase the expertise that Oteemo is so well known for.

In 2022, when Oteemo engaged with Jason, the site had low organic exposure.

They needed an SEO roadmap, a new website, and a team to deliver this project.

Site Authority

Oteemo also had a low domain authority and no plan or map to grow its authority score. Their limited organic visibility contributed to a stagnant DA, and this loop continued until Jason Pittock stepped in to demystify these concepts, expose areas to rapidly improve, and gain organic visibility that contributes to brand awareness and building a pipeline.

What did we do?

We conducted an in-depth, comprehensive SEO audit to expose all areas that needed attention and built a rigorous execution program, task list, and website health framework for the customer to work towards beyond the initial fix. Providing immediate remedy to the fundamental SEO problems and an ongoing support system, and key parameters for the website to adhere too. This includes setting technical SEO KPIs for the website and onboarding the team to understand these metrics and execute accordingly.

Then, during 2024, we completely revamped the website experience, improving the solution and market categorization. Along with this we developed a complete design system to improve the ongoing design and development of new areas of the website.

Key implementations of the SEO Progam and SEO Website Development:

  • Proposed new site structure to cater for the 2 business units
  • Redeveloped legacy website and created an integrated design system
  • Built content systems to create thought leadership that aligned with business strategy
  • Moved from old WordPress builder to state-of-the-art builder: Oxygen coupled with Gutenberg.
  • Audited all sitemaps.
  • Verified and cleaned all URL paths.
  • Shortened permalinks.
  • Established pillar pages and archive pages, and implemented the right page schema types.
  • Implemented powerful CDN’s.
  • Documented and implemented SEO DevOps process for managing updates and migrations from staging to production.
  • Scheduled weekly and monthly health check-ins using AI performance monitoring.
  • Clear, well-structured sitemaps were implemented, and indexing schedules were facilitated.
  • Sitemaps were routinely indexed via Google Search Console.
  • Achieved grade A (GTMetrix) and 95% performance score (Google Page Speed Insights).
  • Optimized and cleaned up all metadata and tags on the site and content.
  • Alt tag optimization: all media was optimized to load correctly in image search with the right tags.

The result?

The website fully showcased all of Oteemo’s capabilities, solutions, markets served, and experiences. This is a key factor for driving pipeline opportunities from organic visibility. If people find the website, the experience should be optimal and fully showcase the brand story.

Beyond just the aesthetic function of the site, it loaded rapidly on all devices. The migrations now became a breeze with no SEO downtime or broken pages. The sitemaps indexed all content successfully to be displayed successfully on all devices. URLs became manageable, and a URL builder was implemented for ongoing scalability of the sitemaps and new pages.

The customer successfully implemented content systems that produced high-quality traffic-driving content/thought leadership, which could be used for sales collateral as well as instrumental for attracting high-intent traffic to the site.
